2020 Fundraising Options Survey
The purpose of this survey of Opera Guild of Dayton members and friends is to determine in what manner Guild members and friends are able and willing to contribute in terms of time, talent and finances to support a fundraising effort. Two major fundraising events that were to be held in 2020 had to be indefinitely postponed due to COVID-19: o The annual gala event often known as the Opera Ball (An Evening at the Café Carlisle was this year’s theme.) o The BRAVO! Fashion Show The Guild normally makes a monetary commitment to Dayton Opera. This is Tom Bankston’s 25th season and the Guild has made a monetary commitment to donate $25,000 in his honor. In order to support the commitments of the Guild and to bolster the DPAA in this time of crisis, is it possible to hold a fundraising event? Will it be supported by the members of the Opera Guild? Please respond to this survey by November 10 to provide your input.
SURVEY
1. Would you be willing to pay for and attend a virtual event (we’ll get more specific in a minute)?
No, not at all
Maybe, depends on the event
Yes, if I'm available I will attend.
Please give a short explanation for your answer. For instance, you may have chosen a. No, not at all because you simply don’t have the technology to support virtual events.
2. Would you be willing to donate money?
Yes, I would prefer it in lieu of a virtual event.
Yes, but I would still attend the event.
No.
3. Would you be willing to solicit attendance to an event or funds from friends and family members in support of the DPAA and Dayton Opera?
Yes, I am comfortable soliciting funds.
Yes, I am comfortable soliciting attendance.
No, I am not comfortable soliciting.
4. Would you be willing to purchase or sell tickets to a raffle? A number of organizations locally are having fundraising raffles for everything from jewelry to jeeps.
Yes, assuming the prize was worth it
No, I'm not interested in raffles.
5. Several fundraising ideas have been raised. Right now, the ideas are still rough drafts but please check all that might appeal to you:
A virtual event featuring wines paired with songs. For instance, the attendee would pay for their registration, pick up the featured wine in advance, and then participate virtually in a presentation that included singing and wine tasting.
Sponsor a part of a special piece of music. For instance, a song such as Libiamo would be chosen and you could pay for the 8th notes. Someone else would “buy” the treble clefs and another person would sponsor the first verse. The names of all of the sponsors and what they sponsored would be listed on a card for Tom Bankston.
For a donation, gift a special virtual performance to a friend or family member. For instance, for a donation of a certain size you could send a loved one a Zoom or YouTube performance of Happy Birthday sung by a Dayton Opera singer.
A Valentine’s Day event be of interest to you? It could be one of the ones described above or something else entirely.
A Valentine’s Day meal catered and delivered? A streamed music performance could be part of the experience.
I would prefer to just donate money.
6. Libiamo! A Celebration of Dayton opera will premiere on the DPAA Virtual Streams on November 20, 2020. Do you plan to attend?
Yes, I am already registered for Virtual Streams.
Yes, but I need to register (Go to daytonperformingarts.org/stream/libiamo)
No
Please leave any comments you may have regarding fundraising events in the time of COVID-19.
